Hello.

Thanks to those who showed up for the Video Games social last week, I think it went pretty well. On the note of socials, if any of you are interested in having another 24hr screening this semester, would you like to suggest any series's that we could show? Ideally, we are looking for two 26 episode series's, one of which is a comedy. The only other rules are it cannot be something that we are already screening this semester (or was shown at the last 24hr event) and it cannot be too offensive so suggestions that are too violent or fanservicey are apt to be ignored.

Anyway, here's what we're screening in week 3:

Tuesday 29th January - 7pm, Union House 1.33

School Rumble - episode 14
Kino's Journey - episode 2
Kamichu - episode 9
Noein - episode 13
Scrapped Princess - episode 14
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - episode 13
xxxHoLiC - episode 13

Thursday 31st January - 7pm, Union House 1.33

Howl's Moving Castle
Oh! Edo Rocket - episodes 5 + 6

We tend to congregate in the blue half of the Union Bar about an hour before each screening (6pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays) for a drink and a chat. If you'd like to join us, we'd be very pleased to see you!

i really liked rupert's suggestion at the last 24hr screening that we have a society-themed screening, what with us being the uea anime soc and all P: i can't remember what was suggested except haibane renmai (the charcoal-wing federation), but if that idea is just a bit silly, my official suggestions are LAST EXILE AND DEATHNOTE!!!!!!!!!!!
alright ,the last one is 37 episodes...but it's made of win, come on!

The problem with that is that:

1. We book the projector per 24 hours so it would cost us over £100 to go over the 24 hour limit.
2. Deathnote is an incredibly dark series to follow while tired, especially following Last Exile which is also dark.
3. Deathnote is only good until half-way through anyway. After that, it sucks.

1..woah, that's expensive!!
2, i was only suggesting two series i enjoy, as separate possibilities, i don't really watch humourous anime, so i'm not much use at this really..but i have to say, evangelion? not really the most sunshine-y of anime's!!although a classic, especially when twinned with ouran :P
deathnote does suck just the tiniest bit..has the society ever watched the live action movies, on a completely different topic? worth ordering from japan for myself or not?

I enjoyed the first half of the Live Action. The second, much like the series, goes rapidly downhill. It's worth watching though, as a fan.
